” I was working at a fine dining Italian restaurant one summer. I was hired as a prep cook. One afternoon before the restaurant opened, I was cutting tomatoes for our various sauces that we make on the premises. I was not paying close enough attention when I felt the blade of the knife cut through the tip of my pinky finger. I was in shock. There was blood all over. I quickly grabbed a towel and tried to hide what had happened. I knew that I could not afford to lose this job. I quickly took the tomatoes to the sink and used a colander to rinse them off, then attended to my first aide. I put pressure on my finger to stop the bleeding and then wrapped my finger in badges. I got back to work. No one saw a thing amazingly!”
